Description
File# 0940 The tail of a USAF Thunderbirds Lockheed-Martin F-16D (Block52) Fighting Falcon/Viper. This aircraft is the Operations/Press/VIP aircraft and spare for the Thunderbirds Flight Demonstration Team.
"When the fighting stopped in Korea, The United States Air Force was six years old. How could a young Air Force tell the citizens about its capabilities and skills? You didn't tell them, you showed them. And when you showed them, you really showed them."
"From their first show in 1953, the Thunderbirds have taken their unique and powerful brand of American spirit to all fifty states. In all they have flown the flag at more than 4,000 air shows before more than 325 million people." ... General Fig Newton, USAF (Ret.)
The Thunderbirds and their red, white and blue F-16 aircraft are effective recruiters and Air Force ambassadors, but the Thunderbirds can be lethal too. In less rhan 72 hours, the squadron can be made combat-ready for worldwide deployment.
