File# 0882 'Hop A Long' a Sikorsky UH-19B Chickasaw helicopter as display in 2007 at the National Museum of the USAF.
The UH-19B 'Chickasaw' is a USAF version on the Sikorsky S-55 which saw use by all U.S. military services in the 1950s and 1960s. During the Korean War, rescue versions of the helicopter (SH-19s) became the primary USAF rescue and medical evacuation.helicopter. The UH-19B pictured is painted as 'Hopalong', one of two H-19s to complete the first trans-Atlantic flight by helicopters in 1952.
