"The redevelopment of LaGuardia Airport, begun in 1957 and now nearing completion, includes a great new passenger terminal, nearly seven times the size of the former structure, a new 150-foot-high control tower, enlarged parking areas, a new two-level terminal roadway system with a Grand Central Parkway overpass, a new Runway 13-31 and rebuilt Runway 4-22, and additional aircraft apron areas. Extension of the airport's two runways into Rikers Island Channel will be completed in 1967 at a cost of $39,000,000 (USD). By 1970, the new LaGuardia Airport will provide employment for 11.000 people earning $106,000,000 (USD), tripling the present employment and payroll.".....
